Being Passed From One Hand To The Next

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 26 March 2011 | 3 Comments

Today a thought came to mind that triggered many other thoughts related to children, adults, parents and God.

It seems clear to me now how easy it is to give up control when I think about how God designed things in the first place, then because of sin, how things needed to change. But His design still stands.

The Little Boy Inside

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 17 March 2011 | 2 Comments

Stevie boy didn't know what to do with this new information he was being told from his father. It seemed contradicting and it hurt more than anything he can remember.

Stevie boy didn't dare to cry because dads are always right, and dad's love their children. But Stevie boy was afraid of being alone. Somehow this had left a sharp pain, a seemingly large hole in his heart. But being only a young boy, who trusted his father, didn't know what to do about it. It just hurt.

God's Design, Control or Respect?

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 4 March 2011

I have been thinking this morning about patterns instilled into my thinking because of those who would teach by their words and actions instilled in them by a culture that would have us believe that God designed the man to rule over his wife.

I can see the retorted faces of men as they frown, and the brightening of faces of women as they smile, to that statement. Which shows us where our hearts are really at. Men want control by means of authority, and the result is women fighting for equality. Does that sound like Gods ideal design when He created man and woman in His image?

Genesis 2 is Gods perfect design, in Genesis 3, God says that man will rule over his wife. This can be looked at two different ways.

The Trinity

I was standing outside with the heat of a bright sun warming my face in the middle of winter. I recalled in the Jesus Calling book, Jesus saying that when things are bright, think of Me.

Good and Bad Together

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 5 February 2011

When driving down the road, I turned the radio on for just a moment. A preacher was talking about love within marriage, he then quoted a verse from Proverbs 31:12 “She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.”

A Conversation Between God And The Son

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 9 January 2011

This is a conversation between God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. It is written as though they didn't know what was about to take place... But they did.

Father. I have been noticing that your heart is grieving for the people of the earth. While You have given them a free will, they have turned their attention to themselves and to all types of evil against You.

God is starring into space with a sad look on His face and says, Jesus, I wish that we never created them. There is so much they could excel to, but they choose to do so little or nothing at all to share My love with one another. Only hatred and bitterness can I see.

Their sin is great, and each one deserves to be punished for their sin against Me. They deserve death for what they do, and no one, not a single person will ever enter My presence in this condition. I have created a place of great torment, an eternal punishment separated from Me for such as these. God lifted His eyes to His Son and says, destroy them and cast them from My sight.

The Tail of Two Cars

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 15 September 2009

One day while heading down the road in my old car, I found myself heading in a direction I did not like. Things have just gotten confusing lately and I just needed some fresh air, I thought I just needed some time to myself. However, the air was not cleaner here, in fact it had a stench I had smelled before.

As I thought about it, I came to realize it was coming from within my car. I have been driving this old thing for such a long time I hadn't noticed it quite like this. It was sickening, I found myself hating it and wishing for something different.

An Old Inspirational Story Of Overcoming

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 31 August 2009

For about a month or two now I have been wrestling with the thought of where our faith, our talents and Gods intervention all fit together. We are hearing some pretty out-there ideas about our abilities to accomplish great things with our minds.

As I was trying to figure this out, the Biblical story of David and Goliath came to mind. Many of us growing up in the church understood a simple version of a young boy, a small Shepard boy who had older brothers currently at war with the Philistines.

David is sent by his father to bring food to his brothers. Upon arrival, David hears a loud voice call out in the distant; Goliath, a giant of a man standing nine feet, nine inches tall who has come a number of times to challenge anyone, some man who would fight to the death; the losers nation would be slaves to the winner.
