Can We Really Love?

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 29 August 2011

Last night as I sat outside on the patio gazing up at the stars, a thought came to me about Love. My first thought was back 25 years ago or so. I believed I understood what love was at the time, but was told that I didn't know what love was. As I look back on this now, I see now that I didn't know or understand love at all. I do understand now what love isn't.

The next thought that came to me was about lawns. We all have seen those lawns that just take your breath away - beautiful! I would like a nice green groomed lawn, but at the moment it has grown out and looking a bit shabby. I do understand that grass grows, I also understand that weeds grow too. When I look at it, even in the moon-light, I don't like the way it looks. So what must I do to enjoy a nice lawn? I must mow and cut away that which does not belong before I can witness a nice groomed lawn.

What Is Your Perspective Of God?

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 29 July 2011

Over the last few months I have been giving a lot of thought to our personal unique perspective of God. I hope what I share here will open your eyes as it did mine to just how unique, yet infinitely large and wonderful God is.

The image below shows the statue of Liberty in the center, and 8 different people equally spaced around the statue. Not only does each person see the statue from their specific angle but also from their unique, possibly colorful perspective.

How Thick Is The Surface

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 11 June 2011

I have been thinking about the surface of things, how thick it is, and if there is thickness, what is it's value.

Water for some reason comes to mind - the surface of the water. How about a tar road, a glass window or even a blade of grass or paper? If these things have a surface, how thick is it?

As a new world is slowly being revealed to me; learning about my roots, patterns and behaviors - to help me make sense of the puzzle of my life and how God fits into it, I have been separating my behaviors from the eternal essence of who I really am. There is my body, and there is my soul. A type of surface and then essence if you will - two parts.

What Is In Control Of Your Life?

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 8 May 2011

As I began to understand my completeness in God alone, I began to understand for the first time in my life how God and Money are not in some way equal. I have always understood that God is all I need. But until I stopped trying to reason with this truth, recognizing that my mind is a tool and not who I am, the “me” (the “you” of Steve separate from the mind) I began to also see money as a tool which is used to support the body only; the material, physical part of who I am.

Being Passed From One Hand To The Next

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 26 March 2011 | 3 Comments

Today a thought came to mind that triggered many other thoughts related to children, adults, parents and God.

It seems clear to me now how easy it is to give up control when I think about how God designed things in the first place, then because of sin, how things needed to change. But His design still stands.

God's Design, Control or Respect?

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 4 March 2011

I have been thinking this morning about patterns instilled into my thinking because of those who would teach by their words and actions instilled in them by a culture that would have us believe that God designed the man to rule over his wife.

I can see the retorted faces of men as they frown, and the brightening of faces of women as they smile, to that statement. Which shows us where our hearts are really at. Men want control by means of authority, and the result is women fighting for equality. Does that sound like Gods ideal design when He created man and woman in His image?

Genesis 2 is Gods perfect design, in Genesis 3, God says that man will rule over his wife. This can be looked at two different ways.

A Conversation Between God And The Son

Posted by Steve Nyhof on 9 January 2011

This is a conversation between God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. It is written as though they didn't know what was about to take place... But they did.

Father. I have been noticing that your heart is grieving for the people of the earth. While You have given them a free will, they have turned their attention to themselves and to all types of evil against You.

God is starring into space with a sad look on His face and says, Jesus, I wish that we never created them. There is so much they could excel to, but they choose to do so little or nothing at all to share My love with one another. Only hatred and bitterness can I see.

Their sin is great, and each one deserves to be punished for their sin against Me. They deserve death for what they do, and no one, not a single person will ever enter My presence in this condition. I have created a place of great torment, an eternal punishment separated from Me for such as these. God lifted His eyes to His Son and says, destroy them and cast them from My sight.
